Which is the most difficult part in IELTS and why

Today we will be discussing the most difficult part in IELTS. As we all understand that each student has a different perceived level of difficulty based on their personality, background, grasping power, learning power, reading ability, and practice history

To make a solid and generalized statement of one particular part being more arduous than another would be imprecise . IELTS test has four components Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing, and all four components are of equal potential in their way.

The difficulty of the IELTS test depends on your efforts and dedication towards the preparation of IELTS

Let us now take a look at allthe four components breifly and see which parts of the IELTS test format you are most comforatable with and which part needs more attention.

The four components of the IELTS test are:

  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Reading
  • Writing

Listening: Many candidates face a problem in the listening component of the IELTS test. If you have ever attempted the IELTS test or a mock test for IELTS, you might have struggled a little because of certain reasons. These reasons may be that you get only one chance to hear each recording. Passages start getting more difficult through the course of the exam. There are a variety of unfamiliar question types where you can get stuck. Candidates often lose focus or get distracted while listening to the questions. It is not easy to remember the entire and exact question at the end of the recording. Many candidates face an accent problem as the IELTS test has a range of English accents. These are some of the problem areas where candidates might get stuck. But in order to score a good band in the IELTS test, you’ll have to learn ways to avoid these complications. Finding ways get more comfortable with English language and achieve a respectable band in the IELTS, you’ll have to be consistent and persistent towards it.

Speaking: This is the section where most of the candidates are comfortable with, but some candidates might find this part difficult because speaking on a spontaneous topic for around 3-4 minutes can be a strenuous task for some. This part of the IELTS test needs more and more practice. The biggest mistake here is over confidence. One might think how difficult can it be to talk for 4-5 minutes? What some candidates don’t know is that talking casually and speaking in front of an examiner are two different things. People often find difficulty in framing sentences or coming up with new ideas in that moment. Many people lose confidence because of self-doubt. And this entire problem occurs due to the lack of practice.

IELTS speaking test needs a lot of practice and effort. If you find it difficult, you can take help of a faculty. There are IELTS training institutes to help you. Eyelearning is the best Training institute for IELTS exams in Canada.

Reading: In this section, candidates face many problems. All these problems occur due to less reading practice. In this section, there is too much to read and the candidates are supposed to respond to the questions in a given time. Candidates are expected to read approximately 2500 words and respond to 40 questions in a matter of 60 minutes. If your scanning power is not up to the mark and you are not comfortable with the skimming skill you will find this section hard.

Scanning is a reading skill that helps you to grasp important information quickly, you must have the skill of scanning a particular paragraph and gathering important information so that you don’t have to read the entire thing, and you can smoothly answer all the questions. This will save your time, and you will be able to concentrate on more questions which are very important and carry more marks.

Writing: In this section, people find difficulty in generating ideas and examples that are specific to the task question. After this making sure that you have written enough for the question is a more tedious task. Not completing the writing test on time is the most common problem faced by majority of the candidates.

The Writing test takes approximately 60 minutes in which you roughly have 20 minutes to write 150 words for the task one question, and 40 minutes to write 250 words for the task two questions.

Your score depends on many things but not writing enough has a severe penalty. Practice hard in these areas.
